Who is Bella Blue?

Bella Blue is a New Orleans born and raised mover, shaker, stripper, artist, and pleasure seeker.

Since 2007, she began to explore beyond the bounds of her formal dance training to expand into forms of movement that were more sensual. While the majority of her career has been as a burlesque performer, she is also an accomplished pole dancer and movement coach.

She’s had the honor of representing New Orleans by headlining festivals and events all over the US and Europe. She has solidified her standing as one of the leading producers and educators within the burlesque industry.

Everyone’s most loved (and sometimes hated) Unicorn Stripper Momme, Bella prides herself on a scientific approach to coaching pole and movement based on body awareness, connective tissue, muscle engagement, functional range of motion, and active flexibility.  She loves coaching new students and newer dancers in the industry but generally loves all aspects of movement and sharing it with everyone interested.

What is Burlesque?

Burlesque is widely known as the “art of the striptease.”

While there are many theories on how exactly burlesque made its way to the United States, we can certainly track its origin to somewhere around the 1840s. New Orleans has a long history of burlesque dancing weaved into the stories of Bourbon St. and Storyville.  Alongside New Orleans trad jazz, burlesque became an entertainment staple. In its heyday, up to 50 acts per night could be seen in the clubs on Bourbon Street. New Orleans burlesque is alive and well today, with many great burlesque shows available every day of the week.

Here’s what you should expect when you come to any Top Burlesque Show in New Orleans:

·      Be prepared to be astounded by beautiful costumes, sensual body movement, and cheeky, flirty, lighthearted interactions that break the 4th wall. You can expect to see everything from performance art, drag, striptease, pole dancing, aerial acts, clowning, and more. One thing that you definitely should be prepared for is to expect the unexpected! 

·      Burlesque is an interactive artform but, we also recognize that everyone has their boundaries. Performers will let you know the level of physical interaction they are comfortable with and will provide you with the same courtesy. Consent on both ends of the spectrum are imperative to a good time for everyone! 

·      Tipping culture is the cornerstone of our tourism and hospitality driven industry in New Orleans. The generosity of audience members is what enables culture bearers such as burlesque performers, pole dancers, drag artists, musicians, street buskers, circus artists, and variety performers continuing to keep the entertainment going and creating new acts that keep the scene fresh and exciting.
